Sheki-Lahij tour

Sights: Baku, Maraza village, Lahic, Sheki, Kish, Shamakhi
Duration: 2 days/1 nights

Azerbaijan is a country with a rich history, beautiful nature and wonderful people. It surely needs more time to see all its sides and parts, but in a two-day tour to the western Azerbaijan, you will see thousand yearlong traditions, visit ancient sights, Christian churches, mosques, luxurious palaces and streets of old villages. You will feel this Caucasian country even in this relatively short time.

Tour itinerary:

Day 1: Baku – Shamakha – Lahij – Sheki 
In the morning, departure from your accomodation to Sheki. On the way, visit Diri Baba mausoleum in Maraza village. Continue to Shamakha and have a sightseeing of historical Juma Mosque, Yeddi Gumbez Mausoleum, and the Shirvan Shah's family grave yard. Drive the Girdimanchay River’s canyon to visit Lahij, the 5th century place rich in its historic and architectural values. Lahij is mostly famous for magnificent ancient mosques and bath-houses. But it is also a place to learn more about medieval water supply and sewage systems, as well as a chance to purchase artifacts such as jewelry, copperware, carpets, pottery, daggers and iron tools in a number of traditional workshops. 
In the afternoon, continue driving to Sheki. Overnight at accomodation.

Day 2: Sheki – Kish – Baku
In the morning, check-out from hotel and start sightseeing tour around Sheki. Visit stunning Sheki Khans’ Palace, a medieval fortress, and local History Museum. Continue to local mosque, handicrafts workshop, madrasah, and bazaar. Enjoy panoramic view of the town and head to Kish village located close by to Sheki. In Kish, visit the first Albanian church in Caucasus dating back to the 1st century AD. 
Depart back to Baku. Drop of at your accomodation.
