Peter Heuritsch

Peter Heuritsch is a personal, certified guide with the goal of being your cultural mediator and cultural ambassador during your stay in Vienna. He wants to show you the special Viennese way of life, “savoir vivreת” as they say in the city. He does this by sharing both stories and historical facts within his tours. While touring with Peter, you will get to learn about the city through the eyes of a local who was born and raised in Vienna and is very passionate about his work. 

After starting his own business as an art dealer and gallery owner, and working as an entrepreneur in the field of financial consulting and communication training, Peter returned to his passion and love for art and culture. He wants to inspire all visitors who come to see Vienna, and he certainly has the knowledge and skills to do so.

Not only does Peter offer tours inside Vienna, but he is knowledgable about and can accompany you to the beautiful regions around Austria such as, Lower Austria, Salzburg, and Tyrol. If you choose to stay and explore inside Vienna you will find tours revolved around art, cuisine, sightseeing, and museums. You will be able to travel by foot, bicycle, Segway, or Vespa. Peter offers a tour for everyone and is looking forward to share his passions with you.  

 

Mag

Mag was born and raised in southern Burgenland and has always loved Austria and learning about its history and culture. Since 1997, Mag has worked, studied, and lived in Vienna. She continues to find new and fascinating information to learn about the city. At the University of Vienna, she studied Austrian and contemporary history and decided to finally become a tour guide after the two-year training course at WIFI Vienna.

In university, her thesis focused on the destruction during World War II, and Mag particularly loves guiding tours about this topic. Mag offers a variety of personalized tours based on your interests. She will explore the city with you on foot, bike, bus, or lead you around a museum you might be interested in. If you have a particular interest such as music or art, Mag is happy to create a tour about the incredible Austrian artists in one of the art museums, or take you to various spots in the city with a rich history in art.

Mag works with smaller groups as well as schools and universities, starting from age six. Whether you are six or sixty, want to learn about a specific topic or see the top Vienna sites, Mag will share all she knows with you and in an interesting way. You will leave the tour feeling connected to Venetian history and will gain insider travel tips for the rest of your stay in the incredible city.

Andrea

Andrea is a native Hungarian, born in Budapest, and has worked as a licensed, private guide since 1995. She is a very enthusiastic guide, excited to show off the city’s beauty and educate visitors about the fascinating history and culture. Andrea grew up during the communist regime, giving her a unique perspective on the recent history in Budapest.

Do you want to walk on the cobblestones of the old castle district, enjoy spectacular views from the Fishermen’s Bastion, or maybe relax in Gellert Bath? Andrea not only takes you on tours to the most well-known spots in Budapest but offers several themed tours as well. Some of these include a communist past tour, Jewish history tour, wine and food tour, river cruise tour, and several countryside tours. It’s difficult to get to know a city or country on your own, especially with limited time. Andrea’s personalized, carefully planned tours and deep knowledge of her hometown will allow you to discover more about the city than you could on your own.

Julia

Julia was born and raised in Budapest and is very passionate about the history and culture of her beautiful city. She is an enthusiastic tour guide offering private, customized tours in Budapest and around Hungary. While her website shows several tour options, each can be changed and customized for you and your friends or family. Julia is happy to show you the city’s main attractions, but she also wants to give you the perspective of a local and share with you details about how the people live, legends that only locals know, and stories about what the locals have experienced over the last few decades. 

Historically, Hungary has been a melting pot of different people and cultures which makes it such an interesting city to explore. You can choose either a walking tour around the city or take a minivan to reach the breathtaking countryside. She offers specialized tours on Hungarian architecture, art, castles, food, and wine. As photo editor of the country’s most popular food magazine, Julia knows the best Hungarian cuisine and is happy to recommend delicious places to eat. Julia is excited to share her passion with you and show you the best of Budapest.

Gabriella

Gabriella is a licensed local tour guide in Hungary and Budapest offering a variety of high quality tours for private groups and individuals. She was born in the Hungarian countryside and has lived for over 25 years in Budapest where she has been able to learn an extensive amount about the culture, heritage, and rich history.

By tailoring a tour to fit your interests you can choose to learn more about the general history, art nouveau, museums, wine and food, or Jewish history of this incredible city. Gabriella is excited to show you the unique aspects of her city and what she believes makes Budapest such a special and fascinating place. Her goal is not only to teach you about her city but to give have a wonderful time with memories to take home and share with family and friends. 

Anna

While studying geography and tourism management in university, Anna began to lead local study tours in the field of sustainable development and history. She continued to learn about business and sales after completing her studies while traveling around the world for work in several multinational companies. Now Anna is a passionate tour guide who offers both inner city and countryside tours.

Maybe you want to visit Balaton, the largest European lake surrounded by historical sites, or take a trip to the Eger fortress where Hungarian soldiers defended their community against the Ottoman army in 1552. There are several towns and sites that are just a short drive outside the city filled with fascinating history and beautiful scenery. If you decide to stay inside Budapest there are several tours to choose from including the Pest walking tour, Buda Castle district tour, and a secret tour that takes you off the beaten path to some of the more hidden and unknown city sites.

Of course, there is also an option to create your own tour based on your personal interests, whether that be art, nightlife, or food. No matter which tour you chose or which part of the city you decide to explore, Anna will share with you historical and cultural stories that will connect you to the city and even make you feel like a local for the day. Anna has always had a passion for other cultures and is thrilled to have this passion be part of her job and be able to share it with visitors.

Emily

Emily creates tailor-made tours based on your interest in hopes of helping you make the most out of your holiday or time in Budapest. She offers tours in a variety of languages and can even provide a comfortable, air-conditioned minivan to travel to further locations such as Vienna or other neighboring historic towns. She has experience with kids from working in schools, is happy to accommodate to the older adult population who might have difficulty walking, and is always willing to explore the city on foot for the athletic travelers. 

Whether you are interested in the city’s general history, a specific site, art, or Hungarian food, Emily will make sure you end her tour with all your questions answered. She can take you on a sightseeing tour to some of the city’s top sites such as the Basilica, Parliament, Andrassy Avenue, Opera, Chain Bridge, Matthias Church, and Danube Corso. Some of her other specialty tours include a Jewish tour in the city center, city lights tour, extended Budapest tour (5-8 hours), Lake Balaton and Herend tour, Danube tour, Szentendre tour, and Art Nouveau tour. Whatever you are interested in, just tell Emily and she will create a spectacular itinerary that allows you to check off the sites and destinations on your Budapest bucket list.  

Andrea

Andrea is originally from Venezuela and has been living in Paris for 2 years. She fell in love with energy, colors, and architecture of Paris during her first visit, and since moving there, her love for the city has only grown! Around every corner, there is a unique story, and every street gives off its own personality. While Andrea has several pre-designed tours based on different topics and interests, she is happy to create a custom tour if there is something specific you are interested in. Some of her tours will take you to popular landmarks and sites, while others are based on specific themes such as fashion, sports, urban life, Bohemian culture, and Paris-filmed movies. Andrea wants to share her love of Paris with you and show you another side to the city that you wouldn’t otherwise know or might miss while exploring on your own.

 

Alex

Alex is a native Parisian and licensed tour guide, offering tours to individuals and groups up to 12. Limiting the group size is a way to make sure all tour participants can hear the information and comfortably ask questions without fighting to get to the guide. Alex’s tours can last anywhere from one hour to the entire day, he can purchase tickets ahead of time to help you avoid long lines, and will even help you plan your visit to Paris. With Alex, you will explore Paris like a local, while gaining insight on some of the city’s top landmarks and discovering the hidden secrets of the city itself.  Alex does not have premade tours, he simply creates a plan with you based on your interests, needs, and time constraints.

Alex has led thousands of visitors around the city through the many tours he offers. Whether you are interested in seeing the city’s finest street art, learning about the historic Marais neighborhood, or exploring the extravagant Château de Versailles, there is a tour for everyone. Alex is a native-English speaker who studied history and is now an expert on Paris. He is extremely passionate about his work and is happy to make a customizable tour to fit your needs and interests.

The Pressbook celebrates the one year anniversary of the Jewish Silk Road Portal launch, an amazing example of using Jewish travel as a means of cultural diplomacy, whilst highlighting the significant Jewish contribution to the ancient trade route. Kudos to our participating partners from the Kiriaty Foundation (Turkey), National Board of Tourism of #Georgia, National Board of Tourism of #Uzbekistan, and Israeli Embassy of #India.
