ABOUT THE EVENT

Karmiel Dance Festival: A Lively Celebration of Dance

The Karmiel Dance Festival is a one-of-a-kind event held every year in the Galilee since 1987. For over 30 years, the festival has honored and preserved Israeli folk dance through exuberant shows, workshops, and open dance parties. An expression of national identity, the festival showcases both the history of Israeli dance and the beauty of all artistic dance styles. Over time, the festival has grown into a world-class event with thousands of international visitors and dancers attending across the three-day event every August. Held in Karmiel, normally a quiet town, the festival transforms the area into a dance mecca where nearly every public space becomes a stage.

From ballet to modern choreography to ethnic dance and flamenco, the Karmiel Dance Festival showcases a variety of dance styles appealing to everyone. The festivities kick off with a parade featuring dancers and live orchestras, followed by folk dance and jazz contests judged by professionals and the public. Festivalgoers can attend daytime workshops for those looking to sharpen their dance skills or simply just join in on fun, impromptu dance circles.

The Karmiel Dance Festival is a great fit for those who want to immerse themselves in dance culture. Since the city of Karmiel is located off the typical tourist path, this festival is perfect for travelers who would like to experience local Israeli life. Families will also enjoy the kid-friendly activities and dance workshops held during the festival. When you come and let loose at the festival, you’re sure to leave feeling more uplifted than before.

🌍 Celebrating One Year of the Jewish Silk Road Portal

World Jewish Travel was thrilled at #IMTM 2024 to present a copy of the WJT Jewish Silk Road Pressbook to the CEO of the Azerbaijan National Tourism Board Florian Sengstschmid and Jamilya Talibzade its Israeli representative Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB).

The Pressbook celebrates the one year anniversary of the Jewish Silk Road Portal launch, an amazing example of using Jewish travel as a means of cultural diplomacy, whilst highlighting the significant Jewish contribution to the ancient trade route. Kudos to our participating partners from the Kiriaty Foundation (Turkey), National Board of Tourism of #Georgia, National Board of Tourism of #Uzbekistan, and Israeli Embassy of #India.

See the overwhelming reaction from the press, by downloading our free pressbook. Special thanks to Moshe Gilad of the @haaretzcom for highlighting this forgotten but important story in the Galeria section of the newspaper and available to download on WJT.
