The hotel was designed by the well-known interior designer, Jaime Beriestain, who gave the hotel an innovative, avant-garde style which can be felt immediately upon entering the hotel. This hotel wanted to break traditional hotel rules by turning the check-in area into a bar. The Gran Hotel Ingles is the oldest hotel in Madrid and first opened its doors in 1886.
