Jewish Education at Its Finest
The Schechter Institute is an academic and educational institution dedicated to ensuring Israel’s future as a democratic state. Through Jewish education, the Schechter Institute provides an open and pluralistic environment for learning. Founded over 40 years ago, the institute now includes four nonprofits: the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies, the Schechter Rabbinical Seminary, the TALI Education Fund, and Midreshet Schechter.
The institute offers in-person classes on campus for graduate students and rabbinical candidates. They also offer recorded lectures and on-demand classes via an online learning platform. Workshops and seminars featuring guest scholars are often held to facilitate community-based learning. Students and attendees can learn about the Torah applied through a modern lens and explore Jewish art and culture juxtaposed with contemporary themes of gender, identity, and trauma. Most classes are taught in Hebrew, but some are held in English, Russian, or French.
The institute mostly caters to students pursuing a master’s degree in Jewish Studies, but also to people who are lifelong learners. Community leaders looking to integrate Jewish learning into cultural centers and synagogues are also a population the institute serves. Almost any class you can imagine regarding Jewish learning is available, from full-on M.A. degrees to bibliotherapy and psychodrama.
The Schechter Institute offers a center of learning for people interested in expanding their knowledge of Jewish Studies. Through its programs, students can gain a deeper connection with Jewish identity and cross-cultural exchange.
